The Designer

I have been in the field of prosthetics for the last 20 years, working in my own practice, as well as some of the major hospitals in Australia.

Primarily, I am a Maxillo Facial Prosthetist constructing many different types of prostheses such as artificial eyes, ears and noses.

In 1995, a doctor who works with Trans-Gender patients approached me and asked if I could design some penile prostheses for his patients, as the only things available to them were some non-realistic 'packers'.

With consultation of pre-op FTM's, I spent a year on research/development of the penile prostheses after which they were very happy with my results.

Once I began, I found that the FTM community was very appreciative of my work and grateful that someone was making these protheses. I received great feedback from all people who had purchased my prostheses. Such positive feedback made all the time and effort that I put into the final prosthesis worthwhile.

I took a trip to Sydney to visit the major FTM Centre, who were very happy to make the FTM prostheses available to the FTM Community there.

I devised a method so I could construct the prosthesis where I live and work, in Adelaide, South Australia and still make the protheses available around the country.

In order to construct a custom made prosthesis, one needs to match the skin color with the prosthesis color. This led me to construct some silicone skin shade samples that I could send to anyone who was interested. They would then let me know their choice, so I could start work on their prosthesis. This worked well. Now, I have a large picture of these samples on this site. (See skin shade samples.)

Through contacting some major FTM support groups in USA, such as FTM INTERNATIONAL at first , then from people receiving their prostheses and being delighted with our work and service , we are listed on many sites .

During the research and development phase, I could not find anyone on the net offering a professional service. So, I decided to create my own web site where I could make my prostheses available to all the FTM communities anywhere around the country and the world.

Currently, 90% of our clients are in the U.S.

Una vez que comencé, me di cuenta que la comunidad con disforia de género de mujer a varón apreciaba mi trabajo y que se sentían agradecidos de que alguien estuviera haciendo estas prótesis. Recibí muchas muestras de agradecimiento de todas aquellas personas que seguían mis investigaciones en las prótesis. Tales muestras positivas de agradecimiento que me llegaban en todo momento, me animaban a esforzarme en conseguir una prótesis que valiera la pena.

Viajé a Sydney para visitar el mayor centro de disforia de género FTM (mujer a varón), que se sintieron contentos de poner las prótesis a la venta para su comunidad FTM.

Tramé un método de forma que pudiera construir las prótesis donde vivo y trabajo, en Adelaide, al sur de Australia, y a la vez poderlas vender por todo el territorio australiano. El único cambio real que encontré fue el cambio de tonalidad de piel; cuando se hace una prótesis para vender, necesitas que el color de la prótesis vaya bien con el color de la piel del cliente. Esto me llevó a fabricar ejemplos de algunas pieles de silicona que pudiera vender a cualquiera que estuviera interesado. Ellos me harían saber su elección, de manera que yo pudiera empezar a trabajar en su prótesis. Funcionó bien. Ahora, tengo una larga lista de estos ejemplos en esta página. Small, Mid & Large Flaccid I find it beneficial to show my work using these large pictures so that I may showcase the lifelike detail in these prostheses. These prostheses look and feel so good because of two main factors: the combining of silicone for the exterior material and a special gel used to fill the interior.

Fabrication
All the flaccid penile prostheses are made from silicone.
I have chosen this versatile material for the following reasons:

Durability Strength It allows tinting to any skin shade It retains color for a long time When made thin enough, it can feel like skin. Most other high quality prostheses are made from this material. Retains body warmth

Adhesive and Solvent

The adhesive and solvent are medical grade, which means they were designed specifically to attach prostheses to human skin. Therefore, they will not cause skin allergies or irritation.

This particular adhesive which we use to attach the penile prosthesis will even stay in place when swimming or exercising, etc. The adhesive and solvent should last about 3 months, after which you can purchase the products directly from the company (US and UK residents only), and therefore they will be cheaper to buy.

An instruction pamphlet titled "Daily care of your prosthesis" is sent out with every order. It gives you detailed instructions on how to look after your prosthesis, as well as how to use the medical adhesive and solvent.
Using Medical Adhesive & Solvent
Basic Instructions

Shave the area where the prosthesis is to be attached. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the back of the prosthesis (where it will only come into contact with the public area). Wait until the adhesive begins to dry (this should take 1 to 2 mins). Press the prosthetic firmly onto the pubic area Hold in place for 60 seconds. Apply a new layer of adhesive every day, or as needed. Use solvent with a cotton ball to remove adhesive build up. These pictures show the 'mid' penile prosthesis held in the correct position by medical adhesive. There is no need to shave the entire pubic area, only where the prosthesis is making contact. Afeite la zona donde la prótesis va sujeta Aplique una capa fina del pegamento en parte trasera de la prótesis (sólo en la parte que irá en contacto con la zona púbica). Espere hasta que el pegamento se seque (esto llevará sólo uno o dos minutos)´ Presione la prótesis firmemente contra la zona púbica. Manténgala sujeta en su sitio durante 60 segundos Aplique una nueva capa de adhesivo cada día o cuando lo necesite. Use el disolvente en un trozo de algodón para eliminar el pegamento antiguo. (Aquí van las fotos de las prótesis) Estas fotos muestras la prótesis mediana sujeta en la correcta posición mediante el pegamento. No es necesario afeitar toda la zona púbica completa, tan sólo bastará con afeitar el área donde va sujeta la prótesis.
